The delegate of the O’Higgins region was crowned the night of January 13th as the successor of Juan Pedro Pavez Bohle.

At Acqua Diva, city of Rancagua, the tenth Mr. Gay Chile was elected, who will represent the country in Mr. Gay World 2018 to be held next May in South Africa. After months of competitions, finally the candidate René Rivera was the winner, after having won multiple special awards.

In second place was the candidate from the Valparaíso region, Matías Ramírez. In third place was the representative of the South area of Santiago (the capitol of Chile), José Miguel Paredes. René Rivera is 30 years old, weighs 168 pounds, measures 5.9 and practices volleyball. René is committed a year and five months ago. The new Mr. Gay Chile participated for the second time in the contest. The first time Rivera competed was in 2009, when the current director of the competition, Mr. Pablo Salvador won the title.

René likes nature and animals as well as design and decoration in general. Rivera received the gold medals as the winner of the Mr. Fashion, Mr. Photogenic and Mr. Congeniality competitions. Rivera received the bronze medal at Mr. Sports, a sports competition sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion of the municipality of Providencia, on the afternoon of January 12, at Balmaceda Park. Previously, Rivera had obtained a silver medal for his performance in regional costume, during the Fantasy Night held in Fausto, in the city of Santiago. René defines himself as a humble man who seeks to make people happy with small details.
